Director of Library Services
Monika Rhue is the Director of Library Services at Johnson C. Smith University. She oversees the library budget, library staff, strategic planning, library accreditation, programming, and grant writing activities. Mrs. Rhue is instrumental in transforming the library into a customer service, technology driven, and programming environment. Mrs. Rhue has bridged several partnerships across campus and in the community, such as:
- The partnership with the Information Technology department to create a sandbox for faculty, promoting the use and training of technology in the classroom.
- IMLS grant funding project, Giving Back: the Soul of Philanthropy Reframed and Exhibited, bringing over 400+ visitors to the campus to review the exhibit.
- Partnership with Health & Human Performance Faculty to launch, Know Your Plate and Growing Healthy Communities both grant funded activities.
Mrs. Rhue currently serves on the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) committee, and helps to preserve the artifacts for the Robert Brown Collection at JCSU. She is the author of Organizing and Preserving Family and Religious Records: A Step-by-Step Guide, and Dress the African Way: An Activity Book for the Family and contributing writer to ACRL publication, Creating Leaders: An Examination of Academic and Research Library Leadership Institutes.
