Biographical Info

Brandon, Director of Library Services at JCSU, is a dynamic leader known for his innovative approach. With a successful history of setting and achieving long-term goals, he drives progress within the library. Committed to our mission and vision, Brandon continuously works to elevate the library's impact in the community.

Brandon's academic background is rooted in a deep understanding of history and information science. He holds a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, complemented by a Master of Arts in Public History from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from UNCC. This diverse educational foundation equips him with a unique perspective and skill set, which he applies effectively to his role as Director.

Since joining JCSU, Brandon has spearheaded numerous impactful projects that have significantly contributed to the library's growth and relevance. Notably, he led the creation of a digital interactive map showcasing historic African American neighborhoods surrounding the campus, preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the community. Additionally, Brandon played a pivotal role in the processing and digitization of the James G. Peeler Photograph Collection, ensuring the accessibility and preservation of invaluable historical resources.

Currently, Brandon serves as the Project Director for Virtual Black Charlotte, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at developing a digital exhibit with augmented reality features. Under his leadership, this project seeks to visually reconstruct communities in Charlotte affected by urban renewal and gentrification, shedding light on important social and cultural narratives while engaging audiences in immersive storytelling experiences.

Brandon's visionary leadership, coupled with his passion for history and information science, makes him an invaluable asset to JCSU and the broader community. Through his innovative projects and strategic initiatives, he continues to elevate the library's role as a hub of knowledge, learning, and cultural preservation.
