Biographical Info
Keisha Parris is the new Director of Library Services at Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Augustine’s University and a Master’s degree in Library Science with a concentration in Academic Libraries from North Carolina Central University.
Ms. Parris has an extensive background in academic library services and educational technology. Most recently, she served as the Director of the Digital Library and Learning Commons at Clinton College in Rock Hill, SC. In this position, she ensured that students, faculty, and staff had access to comprehensive resources. She spearheaded the transformation of the library into a modern digital hub, creating a collaborative and multifunctional space that catered to all and offered both online and in-person services. Her leadership fostered cross-campus collaborations and established vibrant learning communities. Prior to this role, Ms. Parris was the Educational Technology Librarian at Johnson C. Smith University for nearly five years. In this role, she focused on leveraging technology to enhance research and learning.
At Clinton College, Ms. Parris was instrumental in integrating technology into library services and promoting collaborative initiatives within and outside the college community. Her leadership prioritized creating inclusive learning environments that promote access and encourage creativity and innovation among students, faculty, and staff.
In her current role at JCSU, Ms. Parris aims to continue providing access to high-quality resources, fostering academic success through emerging technologies, and supporting innovative research.
Originally from Jamaica, Ms. Parris is proud of her Caribbean heritage. In her leisure time, she enjoys playing volleyball (when her knees allow), hiking, catching up on television series, and aspires to travel the world.
